Do You Want To TEAM Up With Another Breast Cancer Patient?

For years, many of Dr. Chen’s patients have asked for a way to give back to other women who are going through their own reconstructive journeys. The Bosom Buddies are a group of current and former patients committed to helping fellow patients. Dr. Chen and her team understand that undergoing breast reconstruction can be an emotional path. We believe that a strong support network is important to regaining full physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. As one of Dr. Chen’s patients says, “Care is important; caring is essential.”

The Bosom Buddies are available for emotional support, practical tips, sharing stories, and other types of real life help that can help other women feel more comfortable and safe in their journey. We provide space for the group to meet periodically to discover new information about breast cancer and breast reconstruction, share experiences, give back to the community, and just be present to support each other. We also have a lot of fun!

As you go through your breast reconstruction experience, we want you to know that your emotional health is as important to us as your physical health. The Bosom Buddies are a diverse group of women who may have gone through many feelings that you may be experiencing – fear, doubt, loneliness, and even bitterness about what is happening to you. They are committed to being there if you have questions or if you just need a friend who can understand what you are going through.

You can also interact with the #BosomBuddies and see what events are happening on their Facebook group page.

    Bosom Buddy Activities

    Bosom Buddies Fundraising

In 2018, Bosom Buddies became an official nonprofit to help fund our patient support activities. We are currently raising money to help our patients, the #BosomBuddies, Walk the Runway for Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day on June 19 at the 2020 FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered) Conference in San Diego, CA. Bosom Buddies Group is a 501(c)(3) organization, and your generous donations are tax-deductible.

Many of our patients have volunteered to speak with other women who may have questions about what it is like to go through restorative breast and body surgery. If you would like to speak with someone who has already gone through the process, please contact us and we will find a “buddy” for you.

    Patient Resources

In order to make intelligent decisions, it is important for a woman to do her research and educate herself about all of the choices available to her. A library is a collection of information sources made accessible to a community for reference.
